Our Home's Work & Play Spaces

Image
Hello and Welcome! I am so excited to be sharing our work and play spaces today as part of the  Blogger Stylin' Home Tours   hosted by Lindsay at The White Buffalo Styling Co .  I seriously feel like I get to hang out with the cool kids today, these gals all have such stylish homes. The tour will be running all week. You can start at the beginning by clicking here . If you are already following along on the tour, then you are probably stopping by from With Heart. What a sweet playroom, right?  At the end of this post I will share where to head to next. So lets get started! First I'll show you where the work happens and then we'll move on to the fun part and I'll show you where we like to play.  Our home office is located off of the living room through a pair of french doors. I'll sometimes refer to this room as 'the sunroom' because of all of the windows in here.    This old desk is where I sit down and blog from, and lets be honest, I don't consider bl

Toilet Bowl Cleaner Bleached Rag Pillows

I'm so freaking excited to share this project with you today! It's a project that didn't go as planned and almost ended up in the garbage, but by thinking outside of the box.... or in this case, the trash can,  I ended up with two new favorite pillows. Are you a fan of the Indigo Shibori trend that seems to be everywhere right now? I am! Totally! I can't get enough of this amazing blue and white designed print.  As I was drooling over these fabulous pillows on page 4 of my Pottery Barn catalog, I got to thinking,  "I could probably make something similar myself" And so that is how this whole project began. I had a pair of old blue curtains on hand that I knew would be perfect for this project. The curtains already had a faded look to them because I had used them to cover my patio furniture cushions last summer.  I came up with the idea of using toilet bowl cleaner with bleach to create a pattern on the fabric.  Looking back, I think I would have been better of

Bundt Pan Bird Feeder

When I was at my mother-in-law's home a couple of weeks ago, I looked out the window and saw a bunch of little birdies splashing around in her bird bath.  It was the cutest thing ever! And so I decided I wanted a bird bath too! Though bird baths are pretty pricey, so you know me, I searched around our home for items I could use to make my own bird bath and this is what I came up with: I found an old spindle in our garage and carried it throughout our home looking for a lid to go on it.  That's when I realized that this bundt pan was the perfect fit.  All I did was add a bit of glue to the bottle of the spindle and laid the bundt pan on top of it. I took it outside, poked it in the ground, and then filled it up with water. Then I waited... and waited...and waited for the birds to come and they never did.  Come to find out, birds like large circle bird baths with shallow water. Oh well!  So my bird bath then became a bird feeder!  I just need to drill a few small holes in the bot

How to give a beachy look to an old crate.

Hi Guys! So it just accord to me that I never shared this beachy crate/tray makeover with you. I shared it last summer over at City Farmhouse  as one of my contributing post, but I never got around to sharing it here on my own blog.  It's one of my favorite makeover pieces and as you may have notice, I use it all the time in my decorating.  I'm always moving it around from room to room. So to begin, I had this old crate for a long time just sitting in our garage because I never quite knew what to do with it.  One day as I was cleaning out the garage I re-discovered it and realized that if I just removed the lid then it could make an awesome over-sized tray.  I removed the lid by taking out the staples that were holding it together and then I painted it.  First, I painted all of the sides of the tray white. Then, I came up with the idea to paint the slats on the inside of the tray different shades of blue and green.  All of the paints were leftovers from other various projects I
