Choosing the right slipcover for our sofa

Image
Are you looking to update your sofa? If so, I'm really excited to tell you about  Comfort Works. Comfort Works makes beautiful, handmade slipcovers for Pottery Barn, Ikea, and so many other brands, models and sizes of sofas, with a large variety of fabrics and finishes to choose from. As you may know, I own the Ikea Ektorp sofa .  When I purchased my sofa, I also bought an extra white slipcover for it. And then one day I decided that I wanted to give my sofa a new look, so I dyed one of the slipcovers using a RIT dye. You can see how I did it HERE. My dye job turned out okay, but it did look a little faded and so I was just about to re-dye it when I learned about Comfort Works .  I went to the Comfort Works website, looked up my sofa, which again is the Ikea  Ektorp sofa, and I was able to visually try out different colors and fabrics on it. I picked out 9 fabrics that I was immediately drawn to and I had Comfort Works send me fabric samples so that  I could ...

Fall Into Home Tour 2017 [Part 1]

Image
Decorating our home for all of the changing seasons is one of my favorite things to do. That is why I got really excited when Rachel from Maison de Pax invited me to take part in the Fall Into Home Tour again this year.  There is such a lovely group of bloggers in this tour and I will be sharing the links at the end of this post so that you can go check them all out for yourself. If you are already following along on the tour, then you should be stopping by from Finding Silver Pennies.  I relate so well to Danielle's coastal style, although she is lucky enough to live by the coast, whereas I just pretend that I do :) For today's tour I will be sharing our entryway and living room with you, and then next week I'll be back to share a few other spaces around our home that I've decorated for fall. Be sure that you are following me here, as well as on  Facebook and/or  Instagram so that you don't miss any of it. I was most excited to decorate our entryway since I jus...

How to Dye a White Ikea Ektorp Sofa Navy Blue

Did you happen to catch my blog post a few weeks ago about my  Denim Sofa Love ?  I have wanted a denim sofa for years, but as you may know, I have this white  Ikea Ektorp sofa.  Okay, now don't get me wrong, I LOVE my white sofa, it's just that sometimes I want to change things up a bit, especially for the changing seasons, and denim just feels so fitting for fall. At one time Ikea carried a denim slipcover for this sofa, but I wasn't  quick enough to get one and it has since been discontinued. Back when I got my sofa years ago, a blog reader advised me to pick up an extra slipcover for it.  The white slipcovers only cost fifty dollars, and it's just nice to have an extra set on hand while one is in the wash or whatever. SO because I had an extra slipcover, I decided that this could be the perfect opportunity to have both, a denim/navy and a white sofa.  Win! Win! So I went to my local Albertsons and bought two bottles of Rit Navy Blue dye and two bot...
