Outdoor Fall Tablescape

Image
One of my favorite things about fall is the weather.  The cooler weather always feels so nice after the scorching heat of  Summer, but yet it's not too cold to be able to enjoy the outdoors. There's also a crispness in the air and Fall just has a certain smell to it too that is all so welcoming.   When the lovely, Alicia, from A Burst of  Beautiful invited me to join her and some other blogging friends for a fall tablescape tour, I immediately said Yes, and I knew right away that I wanted to create an outdoor fall tablescpae to enjoy the weather and smells of fall with my friends and family. I also knew right away that I wanted to use copper in my tablescape.  Copper is so on trend right now and the warm color of copper pairs so well with the fall season.   I picked up some copper spray paint and used it to paint four metal coffee cans and six dollar store round pizza pans.  I wasn't sure how they would turn out, since the lid of the spray paint look...

Seasonal Simplicity Home Tour - Our Outdoor Spaces

Image
Only two more weeks until it's officially summer!  Although I've been calling it summer ever since my boys got out of school a few weeks ago because it definitely already feels like summer around here; Long sunny days, bbq's, sprinklers, baseball, and all of the other fun stuff that comes along in summer time. I love summer! How about you?  Today, I'm joining some blogging friends for our week long Summer addition to the Seasonal Simplicity Home Tours, hosted by April and Krista . Our Little Cottage in the Fall

Image
Our little cottage looked so cute the other day that I couldn't help but shoot a few pictures of it. We have a couple of trees in our front yard that were just so magical. When the morning and evening light hit them, they seriously glowed.  And then they would shine through to the inside of our home, creating an orange aura everywhere.  They took my breath away every time I saw them. Unfortunately, as I look out of my windows today, it's all gone.  The wind has blown all of the leaves off of the trees and they are bare but a few stranglers still holding on.  It saddens me how one day I am overwhelmed with the beauty before my eyes and the next day it's all gone. Seasons change and before you know it these same trees will be covered in snow, a whole other beautiful sight in its own. You have to enjoy the seasons while they last and so I was so glad to have captured this moment of time in pictures. I also wanted to share how I have decorated our front porch this fall. ...

Our Patio Makeover - Before & After

Image
Over the summer I did a lot of work to our back patio.  I shared some of it with you along the way, but now that it's all finished I wanted to share the complete before and after, because everyone loves a good before and after, right?  So again, here was our back patio before: The first thing I did was tare out this bench because it was more of a wall that was blocking the view to the rest of the backyard. More on that can be seen  HERE . The second change I made was that I painted our hot tub.  I was so pleased with how it turned out, I just wasn't so pleased with the orange-y colored fence behind it. See how I painted our hot tub HERE. So the last change I made to our patio was staining that wall and the railings.  I went to Lowe's and picked up some outdoor stain by Olympic brand and had it tinted in  Driftwood Gray. I was really surprised when the associate at Lowes told me I would be able to stain over the orange color I had before.  I thought it ...
