Our kitchen nook area was looking a little plain and so I decided that it would be the perfect spot to create a fun Halloween display. When I shared my post, How to hang a cow skull on the wall , I received a comment from someone saying that they didn't know why I would want to hang a skull on my wall, that it was evil... or something like that. So I thought, Why not use my skull as a Halloween decoration and decorate it up a bit? However, I think my skull is beautiful. It represents new beginnings.  A cow is the symbol of Mother Earth in many cultures because it provides milk, meat and clothing. Cows are generous and selfless and are considered the most sacred animal in India. And Buddhists see the cow as calmness and holiness. So there! What really inspired me to decorate this little nook area in our kitchen was this fun menu sign that I found at the Dollar tree.  Boo! My boys and I did a little Halloween decorating around our home and today I wanted to share our scary Halloween mantel with you. When it comes to Halloween decorations I like to create fun little vignettes that tell a story rather than just place decorations here and there. If I have too many Halloween decorations all over the house it starts to drive me a bit batty and I want to take it all down before Halloween even gets here. So the story I created here is that this is an old creepy house that has been abandon for years.  It was abandon because it got so badly infested with rats and spiders and snakes..... Oh My!  The mantel that was once a cozy place where the owners kept their beloved books, where they would pick one off of the mantle and cuddle up on on the sofa with the fireplace roaring and enjoy the stories they would read.  But Then.... If I were to name my style I would call it, Coastal Bohemian Farmhouse. I know that sounds a bit eclectic, but I wouldn't necessary say that my style is eclectic. Eclectic means that you like a variety of styles from a lot of different periods. But I've notice that when people refer to their style as eclectic many of times there is a lot of color, art, and mid-century modern accents going on in their homes, which is all wonderful, but just not me. So when I tried to pin-point what exactly to call my style I came up with, Coastal Bohemian Farmhouse, because those are the three styles I gravitate to the most and I don't stray too much from those three styles.  Let's take a look at my sun room for an example.   At the end of this post I have created a 'Shop the Look' button that will allow you to find similar items to most of  what can be found in this room.  I'm sure you can spot the Coastal style right off the bat.  I love the ocean and I am very inspired by ...

Happy October! A few weeks ago I shared our Fall Home Tour and you may have noticed these napkins rings at our table setting.  Today, I want to share how I made them with you because I think they turned out really cute. I picked up this large belt at a yard sale over the summer because I loved the little green stripes on in.  I'm a sucker for stripes, and I liked that it was super long.  I believe this type of belt is used in hospitals to assist patients.  That may sound gross, but this belt appeared to be clean and new. Any long belt should work fine for this project, and in fact, I think a leather belt would be cool too. I wrapped the belt around a napkin to decide what size to make my rings and then I cut the belt into six pieces, all the same length.  I used a hot glue gun to secure the ends together. Throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to switch up the look of a  room for the changing seasons. But that doesn't mean you need to go out and buy new pillows every season.  That could end up costing a lot of money and then where do you store the extra pillows once the season is over? I have found that by buying a yard of fabric, I am able to sew a simple pillow cover that saves me money and are easy to remove and store when not in use.  This black and white sporty pillow is one of my latest creations.  I was inspired by this rustic black and white buffalo check fabric I purchased at Walmart  for only 3 dollars a yard.  I knew this fabric would be a great touch to add to our Fall living room.  I also thought it would probably fit in with my Christmas decor as well,  so really this pillow doesn't need to be seasonal at all, and in fact,  I'm sure you'll see a lot of this pillow in our home all year round.  Here are the steps to sew t...

Is there anything more cozy on a Fall night than candle light? Okay, never mind, a burning fire would be more cozy for sure. But, if you don't have a fireplace or the effort to put into starting a fire, then the next best thing is candle light.   I love the look of a tray full of candles all burning at once. It brightens up a room and sets the mood for a relaxing, spirited night.  I wanted to share how easy and inexpensive it was to create this candle tray.   I purchased most of it from the Dollar Tree, starting with my round metal tray that groups all of the candles together.  It's actually not even a tray, but a simple pizza pan. I was wanting something big and round and this worked out perfect! Most of all of my small candle votives have all come from the Dollar Tree as well. Hey Guys! I'm here to answer that burning question that's laying heavy on your minds, "How in the World do you hang a Cow Skull on the Wall?"  Right? I know you are all thinking about it, loosing sleep over it.  But guess what? You're in Luck,  Today I'm going to show you how!   Ha Ha,  but in all seriousness, a friend did once ask me how I've hung my skull on the wall,  and that's a wonderful question because this is what the back of the skull looks like, there's not a whole lot of options here. But by happy accident I have figured it out.  After I had bought my cow skull, and truthfully I don't know, Is it a cow skull, a bull skull, a buffalo skull or a steer skull?
